Josh Bilicki had a very strong showing in his first Trans Am Series race at Daytona International Speedway on November 11th, driving for Blaise Csida of B.C. Race Cars.
“We have been so close so many times, but the podium has alluded us. I have always believed our cars and set-ups are top notch and capable of winning, and Josh was able to deliver in extremely difficult conditions” stated Blaise, team principal at BC Race Cars Inc. Josh was quick right out of the box, asking for no changes until he learned the car and track. With a minor rear spring change, he topped the charts in the first official practice and placed sixth in the second practice on a full fuel load run. In qualifying, he pulled off a beautiful lap, placing second in a tight field where the top six were separated by only 0.6 secs, missing the pole by 0.171 of a second! Race day looked scary as the track was wet and the oval does not require a wet set-up. After lots of head scratching, it was decided to set the car up for mixed conditions. Josh took the lead on lap one but fell to third on lap two. After an exciting 100 mile race in wet then dry conditions, Josh was never went below fourth position and finished with a well-deserved third place. "To come here and be some competitive right out of the box was awesome! This was my first Trans Am Series race. I've been watching this TA2 class grow for the last five years and the talent level in this specific class is very high. I'm very happy with our results and want to thank Blaise Csida and the rest of the guys from B.C. Race Cars for all of their help this weekend. It was an absolute blast and I hope to be back for more race next season." Full results from the race can be found here. gotransam.com/event-results/Daytona-International-Speedway/8903/4914
