Lemons of LoveLemons of Love was created in 2014 when founder, Jill Swanson Peltier, was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer. As she began chemotherapy, a friend gave Jill a small goodie bag filled with items to help her through treatment. Touched by the kindness and thoughtfulness of this gift, she knew this was something every cancer patient should receive. Jill envisioned giving others the same kind of love and support with a simple gift that makes a big impact. Today, Lemons of Love shares chemo care packages with cancer patients around the world and provides programming at its Lemons of Love Cancer Resource Center in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. The Wounded BlueEach year, over fifty thousand American law enforcement officers will sustain injuries from assault and on the job accidents ranging from minor to catastrophic. Most Americans assume that in the event of sustaining on-duty injuries, law enforcement agencies and the local, county, and state governments which employ them would be responsible for taking care of them, financially, medically, and psychologically as these injuries are incurred while serving the people they swore to protect. Unfortunately, the reality is often quite different. Officers who are injured, often lose a major portion of their salaries during their healing process (if the injuries are only temporarily disabling) and also lose the ability to earn enough to feed their families. The Wounded Blue is the only national organization that helps officers in distress who were wounded or injured on the job.
