Richfield, WI - Josh Bilicki opened up his 2017 racing season with a win in Sunday's SCCA Majors Tour race at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Beloit, IL. Bilicki, who led the race from green flag to checkered flag, qualified on pole for Sunday's race with a lap time of 1:11.4, nearly edging out the GT2 track record.
Once the green flay dropped, Josh opened up a lengthy lead over the second place driver, Jay Sauter (former NASCAR Cup Series, Busch Series, and Truck Series driver) early in the race. As lapped traffic began to play a role in the race, Sauter closed the gap by several seconds. At the end of the thirty-five minute race, Bilicki crossed the finish line first in class and second overall, behind a GT1 Corvette. "This weekend wouldn't have been possible without everyone who has helped us sort out this car these past few weeks," Says Bilicki. "David Jans has played a tremendous role in this program and without him, we would not be here right now. Tom Giese and Ryan Szyjakowski helped us sort out this new computer system, West Bend Dyno and DSS Racing Engines gave me a fast motor, and thanks my father for putting in the long hours to help get the car to the track. I'm looking forward to Mid-Ohio with this car the first weekend of June!" For more on Josh, "like" him on Facebook at Josh Bilicki Racing, or follow him on Twitter and Instagram at @joshbilicki.
